U.S. Constitution: The framers of the U.S. Constitution wanted to prevent the newly formed federal government from becoming a dictatorship. To keep the government from becoming too powerful, they divided its powers among different branches.
A. Identify the branches of the U.S. government as described by the U.S. Constitution,
B. Explain specific powers the U.S. Constitution separates or balances among the branches using two different examples to support your explanation.
C. Explain why and then describe how the U.S. Constitution checks power among the branches, use an example to support your explanation.

How do regional differences lead to sectionalism?  I can contrast the North and South.
Contrast two competing regional characteristics of the North and South that will lead to sectional differences.
 Hypothesize how those characteristics lead to sectionalism and conflict between the North and South, and eventually Civil War.  PEER CRITIQUE MONDAY
